Ungefähr 120 km von Béziers entfernt liegt Nimes.
Das wunderschöne, historische Stadtzentrum wird dominiert vom römischen Amphitheater, welches ein wenig an das Kollosseum in Rom erinnert und so den römischen Einfluß auf die Stadt nicht leugnen kann. Weitere Sehenswürdigkeiten sind der Tempel des Augustus genau gegenüber dem Carré d‘ Artes und die Jardins de la Fontaine.
Ein schöner Tagesausflug von Béziers, ganz bequem mit dem Zug in nur ca. 1 Std. von Zentrum zu Zentrum.
Wäre Nimes nicht so weit vom Meer entfernt, könnte es fast meine Lieblingsstadt werden.

The beautiful, historic city center is dominated by the Roman amphitheater, which is somewhat reminiscent of the Colosseum in Rome, thus demonstrating the Roman influence on the city. Other sights include the Temple of Augustus, directly opposite the Carré d’Artes, and the Jardins de la Fontaine.
A lovely day trip from Béziers, easily reached by train in just about an hour from center to center.
If Nimes weren’t so far from the sea, it could almost become my favorite city.
